Text: Applied Operating System Concepts by Silberschatz, Galvin, and Gagne
Prerequisite: CS 204 - System Software
Description: An in-depth study of operating systems, covering such topics as concurrent processes, memory management, input/output and file systems, and resource allocation. We will be applying many of these concepts by implementing a simple operating system running in a DOS box on the NT workstations.

Academic Honesty: You may discuss homework assignments with other current CS 406 students, but the work you submit should reflect your own understanding of the problem (you should be able to reproduce your work in a coherent manner on your own). No help from anyone other than the instructor is allowed on any other work. Students must follow the college's Priciples of Intellectual Honesty described in the student handbook.
