That's not FAIR!!

The ultimate hostile comment; the trump; the winner; for one who stands accused has no recourse. That didn't seem fair to me, so I went to the American Heritage Dictionary that sits on my desk and looked it up:

fair:
showing no evidence of favoritism, self-interest or the indulgence of one's likes or dislikes.
just:
in accordance with a code of what is legally or ethically right and proper.
impartial:
lack of favoritism in deciding an issue.
unprejudiced:
without preconceived opinions or judgments, especially those adverse to a person or thing and not soundly based.
unbiased:
the absence of self-interest, prejudice or emotionalism.
straightforward:
frank and honest rather than devious.
objective:
detachment that permits observation without undue reference to one's own experience and without indulgence of one's sympathies.
equitable:
just, but less form the standpoint of rigid legality than from what is in the best interest of all; justice tempered by reason or compromise.
dispassionate:
free form coloring by strong personal feelings or emotions.
disinterested:
[not ``uninterested''] free from selfish bias.
non-partisan:
not influenced by, or supporting the policies of one party.

And it hit me! This accustaion is, for the most part, made by the partial, the prejudiced, the biased, the devious, the subjective, the passionate, the interested and the partisan, who have little, if any, interest in justice or equity.

The moral:
Be careful when you point at someone; three fingers are aimed back at you.
