Each week one student will be asked to present an article about an AI or Robotics topic from the mainstream media. The article should describe AI research or how AI is being applied in industry. Examples topics include DARPA Grand Challenge Race, robocup, the use of genetic algorithms in the detection of spam, and robots available to the mass market.

The student is expected to find an article, write up to a one page summary to be turn in on the presentation day, and give a 5 minute presentation about the article in class. The article needs to be published within the last three years. This assignment will count as a homework assignment.

Several newspapers regularly write about technology including the New York Times and Wall Street Journal. Wired Magazine is another good source of information. You may use report on TV or radio shows. Talk of the Nation : Science Friday occassionally covers topics of interest. In addition, I have a few TV shows on video that I am willing to loan. If you find a TV show on your own, any show produced in the last decade is acceptable.
